Kim Myhr (NO)
Kim Myhr is a prolific composer and guitarist with frequent performances throughout Europe, Australia, Asia and the Americas. He has composed for jazz orchestra, chamber ensembles, electroacoustic settings and various stage productions. He regularly performs solo, exploring the acoustical possibilities of the 12 string guitar, as well as part of the trio MURAL with Jim Denley and Ingar Zach. Myhr released his solo album All Your Limbs Singing in 2014, six compositions for 12-string guitar, to rave reviews in Norway and abroad, and a new solo album is currently in the works. He has composed two acclaimed works for the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra: One with Sidsel Endresen, performed at the Molde Jazz Festival in 2009 and described by the journal Jazznytt as “One of the most momentous experiences in Norwegian jazz.” Myhr’s second composition for the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra was premiered at the Ultima Contemporary Music Festival in Oslo in 2012 in collaboration with Jenny Hval. This work, titled “In the end his voice will be the sound of paper,” was released on the Hubro label in January 2016.
Myhr is a prolific composer who writes for chamber ensembles, electroacoustic settings and various stage performances. He is also part of the trio MURAL, with Jim Denley and Ingar Zach, who has had three performances at the Rothko Chapel in Houston, of which the final performance was released as a triple CD in September 2015.
